2,292 accidents with water-endangering materials in the year 2005

(prcenter.de) Wiesbaden - after report of the statistic federal office the responsible authorities registered 2,292 accidents with water-endangering materials in the year 2005 in Germany. Altogether thereby approximately 7,191 cubic meters water-endangering materials were set free. In relation to the year 2004 this is a rise around 1,673 cubic meter (+ 30%), although the number of the accidents decreased/went back easily (- 2%).
Over half of the accidents (1,501) occurred with the transport of water-endangering materials. Most of these cases of damage (1,415) arose with transport with road vehicles. In addition 791 accidents came while handling these materials into commercial and private plants. While in accidents with the transport 513 cubic meters were set free, there was in accidents while handling water-endangering materials 6,678 cubic meters (+ 50% opposite 2004). It concerns thereby predominantly liquid manure, liquid manure and Silagesickersaft accidents (5,188 cubic meters).
3,627 cubic meters water-endangering materials - this corresponds about half to the altogether set free quantity - load durably the water regime, because they could be recovered neither still another supplied to arranged disposal. Approximately 50% of the accidents were caused by human failure, further 26% are to material defects to be due. In 24% of the cases of damage the cause of accident could not be clarified clearly.
